Public Transport

Getting around by public transport in Barnsley Town Centre? There are various bus routes in the area, many of which begin and end at Barnsley Interchange. The Interchange connects the train and bus services, making it easy to switch between them. The interchange is open from 5 am to midnight on weekdays, and from 6 am to midnight on weekends and bank holidays.

At the Alhambra Shopping Centre, you’ll find retailers like Primark, The Perfume Shop and The Works. While The Glass Works is home to Flannels, River Island, New Look, TK Maxx, Next and more.

For hidden gems, wander The Victorian Arcade. And Barnsley Market is a must-visit, with over 100 stalls across two floors.

Food & Drink

If you’re visiting Barnsley and looking for some food and drink, you’re in for a treat. Barnsley is home to some amazing restaurants, bars, relaxed eateries, street food and cafés; whether you’re sitting in or on the go.

Head down to the Victorian Arcade for beers, wine and live music across several bars including Spiral City, Jolly Tap on the Arcade and Annie Murrays. And for a night of table party games with friends like beer pong, stop in to Now Serving.

You’re never far from something fun to do in Barnsley Town Centre.

For the movie buffs, Barnsley's Parkway Cinema is one of the few remaining cinemas capable of screening directly from film. Cineworld at The Glass Works is also a great place to catch a film — with food and drink options close by if you want to make a night of it. It’s a short walk to Superbowl UK, where you can enjoy bowling, crazy club soft play and the amusement arcade with the whole family.

For more arcade games (both classic and new), you’re not far from Barnsley Retrodome, where you’ll find arcade video games, pinball, consoles, air hockey and more.

If you want to end your day with laughter, The Comedy Shop on Shambles Street is one of the hottest tickets in town.
