Barnsley launches a brand-new Visit Barnsley tourism website

  • 11/06/24

Barnsley Council, with the Visitor Economy Forum, has launched a new website to inspire and excite visitors. The new online destination provides visitors and residents with all the information they need to plan an incredible trip to Barnsley. The website aims to attract local, regional, and national visitors who are looking for an overnight visit or a day out.

The website, visitbarnsley.co.uk, showcases the best of what Barnsley has to offer. With stunning countryside, attractions, and a vibrant town centre, there is something for everyone. Visitors can discover hidden gems, food and drink, explore local trails, search for a diverse range of accommodation, find events and activities, and learn more about the area. The website highlights public and private sector destinations, such as Barnsley Metrodome, Oakwell Stadium, Cannon Hall Farm, and the award-winning Barnsley Museums.

Over the past five years, Barnsley town centre has been regenerated. The flagship Glass Works development is attracting visitors from across the country, and footfall in the centre is beating national averages. As part of the newly granted South Yorkshire Local Visitor Economy Partnership, Barnsley is now in a great position to market itself to potential visitors.

Matt O’Neill, Executive Director for Growth and Sustainability at Barnsley Council, said: “We are delighted to launch the new Visit Barnsley website, which is a fantastic resource for anyone planning to visit our borough. Barnsley has so much to offer, from beautiful landscapes and historic sites to lively events and creative venues. We hope that the website will inspire people to discover the diversity and charm of Barnsley.”

Johnathan da Rosa, Chairman of Barnsley’s Visitor Economy Steering Group, said: “The new Visit Barnsley website is a great way to showcase the amazing range of attractions, experiences, and businesses that we have in Barnsley. We want to encourage people to visit Barnsley and see for themselves what a wonderful place it is to explore, relax and have fun. The website is also a platform for us to celebrate and promote our local tourism industry.”
