This festive season, make Barnsley your go-to destination for Christmas shopping!
Discover a range of high street retailers and independents at The Glass Works and Alhambra shopping centres, where you’ll find everything from the latest fashion trends to must-have gadgets. Both centres will extend their opening hours until 7pm from Thursday 19 to Saturday 21 December.
But the magic doesn’t stop there; take a stroll down our high streets to uncover a treasure trove of incredible independent shops. Discover unique, handcrafted gifts that will make your loved ones’ eyes light up on Christmas morning.
With its blend of big brands and charming boutiques, Barnsley offers a shopping experience that is both convenient and stress-free!
Travel into the town centre is easy, with a conveniently located bus and train interchange, plus loads of car parks. Parking on weekends and bank holidays is free for up to three hours in off-street car parks, not including the Glass Works and Alhambra car parks. Whenever you park you will always need a ticket, even when it is free. Please always check the signs in the car park if you have any doubt.

In the town centre, The Lamproom Theatre is home to Sleeping Beauty while the recently regenerated Barnsley Civic is hosting Jack & The Beanstalk.
Across the borough, you can also see Jack & The Beanstalk at The Academy Theatre in Birdwell, Cinderella at Playhouse Theatre in Wombwell and Snow White at the newly restored Dearne Valley Playhouse in Goldthorpe!
