Wentworth Castle Gardens
Wentworth Castle Gardens is managed by the National Trust. The Trust works in partnership with Barnsley Museums and with Northern College, who occupy the mansion at the centre of the estate. There are 60 acres of Gardens, featuring three national collections, as well as many plants of seasonal interest. Interesting garden features, including a castle ruin and a restored Victorian conservatory are ready to be explored. The 500 acres of Parkland is home to a herd of red and fallow deer, shorthorn cattle and sheep. The landscape also contains woodland areas and many historic monuments. There is an adventure playground and cafe. A full programme of events and regular activities catering for many different interests, takes place throughout the year. The website provides information on events, activities and access facilities. Dogs are welcome on short leads.
