If you’re looking for lots of unique, exciting and quirky ways to keep the family entertained over the holidays, we’ve got you covered.
Here’s our suggestion of a great way to spend the half-term break, Let’s dive into the highlights!
Monday - Explore the enchanting world of the harvest mouse
Why not enjoy time outdoors on bank holiday Monday? Until Friday 6 June you can join in the exciting adventure of the harvest mice trail Worsbrough Mill. See if you can spot the eight harvest mice hidden in the grounds, learn some fascinating facts about these adorable creatures and even grab a spot of lunch over at Millers Tea Rooms! It’s a great way to spend some quality family time while enjoying nature.

Tuesday – Put a spring in your step at NovaCity
Jump, tumble, bounce and soar at Nova City’s Trampoline Park! It’s a great way to get the youngsters active, keep them entertained and use up some of that half-term energy! (Don’t worry, there’s also a café to keep the parents’ busy).
With open trampoline sessions as well as a soft play area, parkour classes and more it’s jam-packed with plenty to do.

Wednesday - Unlock theatre magic at Cinderella Ice Cream Sellar
Get your dessert spoons ready for a tale of perseverance, princes, palace balls, glass slippers and ice cream at Barnsley Civic! On Wednesday 28 May, the classic fairytale comes back in this new musical for families.
Join Talvi and Caldwell, loyal employees of Cinderella’s, as they share her rags to riches tale, and confront their own desires, hopes, and the magic that lies within each scoop of Cinderella’s legendary ice cream.

While your in the town centre, why not grab a spot of lunch? At The Salt House kids eat free* from Tuesday 27 May to Friday 30 May!

Thursday – Get crafty with Barnsley Libraries
Barnsley Libraries are serving up fun, free activities throughout all of half-term! On Thursday 27 May you can pick from lots of crafting fun taking place across the different sites, from decorating wooden animals and creating bug balls to painting your own plant pot. There’s a mixture of drop-in and bookable sessions at different libraries, find out more details on the library events page.

Friday – Take on an enchanting journey through a woodland trail
Pop over to Cannon Hall and make a day of it! Start off with the wonderland woodland trail which begins behind the deer shelter. You’ll discover hidden surprises, solve riddles and uncover secrets of this magical realm. Refuel at the Pear Tree Pantry and enjoy sandwiches, soups, cakes, pastries and drinks before exploring the majestic Cannon Hall Museum and their new exhibition Christy Keeney: Formed and Reformed. There’s so much to do, it’s not one to miss off your list!
