GUIDELINES FOR BUSINESS LISTINGS

Overall guidance:

  • Your business must be based within the Barnsley borough, or be nearby with an obvious link to or market in Barnsley. You can check this on Barnsley Council’s interactive map.
  • Your business must be of potential interest to a visitor to Barnsley. This includes things like hospitality, retail, venues, accommodation or events. We reserve the right not to list businesses such as business-to-business, corporate services, or other non-tourism related business.
  • Your business listing must be checked and updated at least every six months. Your listing may be deactivated if not checked within those time frames.
  • You must be the business owner, or have permission to own and edit the listing.
  • You give permission for us to potentially promote your listing on Visit Barnsley marketing channels.

Your business description must be:

  • An up-to-date, accurate representation of what your business offers.
  • Written in plain, simple English. Try to use short sentences, no abbreviations, and if there’s an easier word available – use it!

Images must be:

  • Clear and non-blurry
  • Smaller than 2MB
  • Without text or logos overlaid
  • An accurate representation of your business, products or services
  • Owned by you
  • If people are in the images, you must have UK-GDPR compliant approvals to use those photos for promotional purposes
  • Must not infringe the copyright of any third party or any laws
